an illustrious 164 years in the business, this great firm of Natural
History bookdealers ceased trading in 2004.
Maggs Bros. Ltd., one of the largest antiquarian booksellers in
the world, bought Wheldon & Wesley's reference library, together
with a group of books from their hospital of odd or defective books.
Maggs' natural history department, mainly using John Collins' 40
years' worth of experience in the field of natural history bookselling,
catalogued these books and issued their catalogue 1364 in November
2004. This catalogue can be downloaded
in PDF format (requires Acrobat Reader) or can be searched
on-line. It includes a short history of Wheldon & Wesley
(written by John Collins) as an introduction to the catalogue.
